GETTING INVOLVED: Chamber Project
Teams
The Chamber of Commerce offers a multitude
of ways in which investors can get involved. Project Teams play a
critical role in the Chamber of Commerce. Some Project Teams plan
and organize the activities of the chamber, others are involved in
outreach and networking, still others provide recommendations to the
board of directors, which are used to determine Chamber policies.
All investors in the Chamber are encouraged to become actively
involved.

The Advocacy Task Force mission is to identify public and political
issues at the local, state and national level to keep Chamber
investors informed. Open to interested investors who want to be
instrumental in legislative issues, meetings are held about once a
month or when needed.

The Holiday Parade is a community event sponsored by the Chamber. It
takes place each year the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It requires
a three-month commitment beginning early fall. Team members are
asked to attend approximately five meetings and are instrumental in

workshops and speakers that are of interest to Chamber investors.

ribbon cuttings sponsored by the Chamber. The purpose of the
Welcome Delegates is to visit new businesses on behalf of the

Members of each group will be encouraged to attend the New Investor
Breakfast that the Chamber holds 3 times a year.
Education and Youth
This project team is divided into three separate areas of focus.
The goal is to strengthen programs with educational entities, to
continue to improve the High School Leadership program and
Career Forum and to enhance the scholarship program. The overall
project team meets quarterly to keep up to date on each sub
group. As a member of the one of the following sub-project teams
you are considered a member of the Education and Youth project
team.
- Scholarship: Scholarship:
members of this project are charged with developing and implementing
a fundraiser for the sole purpose of scholarship awards. They are
also charged with the duty of reviewing the scholarship criteria and
selecting the scholarship winners. This team meets beginning in
January through the end of April. The scholarship annual fundraiser
is slated for the third Saturday in April.
- High School Leadership: the High School Leadership program
is a seven month commitment on the part of the students. Members of
this project team are asked to advise on program development. This
group includes the input of area high school counselors and
principals.

annual Career Forum in early November, meeting about four to five
times before the second week in March.

The nominating project team is responsible for identifying
potential Trustees who are then recommended to the Board of
Trustees. They are asked to meet approximately three times over
the course of two and half months. New Trustees begin their
terms at the beginning of January for a three-year term.
Young Professionals A

to late 30s. (Or those investors that are young at heart!)
This group meets to discuss issues, concerns and topics related to
them and their careers. They are encouraged to network, brainstorm
and research areas of their choice, whether it be in the form of
workshops, seminars, or speakers. It can be just a time to exchange
ideas. This is an on going group. If you are interested in exploring
this group contact us at the Chamber office to learn when they meet
again.
